We are located in Salem Presbytery in the Synod of the Mid Atlantic
The local church is governed by the Session comprised of Elders who are charged with the responsibility to oversee the work and worship of the local Church. Each year two Elders rotate off the Session and two new Elders are elected by the congregation.

The membership of Gulf Presbyterian is committed to care and service of one another, the community, and the world in which we live. Gulf Presbyterian is a sponsor of the West Chatham Food Pantry, providing contributions of food and money each month. A Benevolence Fund is maintained to provide for assistance with special needs within the church community and the local community. In September of each year the church accepts contributions for the Church World Service Blanket Fund and on Mother's Day, Father's Day and at Thanksgiving offerings are accepted for Grandfather Home for Children, Barium Springs Home for Children and other Presbyterian Homes in NC providing care for children in need of loving care.
In addition to providing support for the Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., Gulf Presbyterian members also contribute to the Salem Presbytery Hunger Fund, One Great Hour of Sharing, Peacemaking Program, and the Christmas Joy Gift for Presbyterian ministers and their wives with special needs. These offerings provide assistance to those in need throughout the country and the world.
Service committees include Worship and Commitment, Witness and Service and Christian Education. Operational committees include Property, Communion Preparation, Child Care and Social Committees. The church strives to utilize each person's special talents as opportunities for service are provided.
